Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its own results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so our team can answer it. We do not disclose that correspondence outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may record basic technical and usage facts about the visit:
- Page-view timestamps
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is reported
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to view traffic in aggregate, such as which Saratoga County pages receive visits and where sessions end. A browser can reject cookies, though disabling them may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Finding and repairing technical faults
- Operating the site and maintaining page speed
- Measuring which content visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies where Saratoga County records are held, including the Sheriff's Office, court clerks, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. DCJS criminal histories are controlled under New York Executive Law §837 and are not public records available through FOIL. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is subject to the chosen provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and disclosure practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because we do not control the provider's processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Saratoga County offices, New York courts, state agencies, legal resources, and outside tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security measures protect the data we handle. No internet system is entirely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights vary with a user's location and the law that applies. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84-90, governs access to qualifying government agency records, not this private site's files. New York Executive Law §837 separately controls DCJS criminal-history systems and dissemination. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of processing where the governing law provides that choice
